MEET BONNIE BURBERY

Yoga Teacher and Student  |  Bodywork Therapist  |  Kirtan and Mantra

Whilst travelling the world for five years I meet my first inspirational yoga teacher. Under the guidance of this first important teacher, yoga left an indelible impact on my life with the practice quickly and organically becoming an integral part of my daily life.

It took a full year of transient life slowing weaving my way home, stopping in India to immerse myself as a student in the study of yoga,  embracing ashram life.   The seeds that were planted were coming to fruition, now living a quiet life in the coromandel, teaching my daily practices of yoga and massage to the community.

My teachings currently draw from aspects of Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Vinyasa, Yin and Yoga Nidra creating bespoke classes that support the cosmic dance between the breath, body and mind allowing clients the  space to be present and explore "The Self".   To enhance this experience,  I offer yoga philosophy, pranayama, hands on adjustments and personalised playlists.

The development of bodywork is a natural extension of my yoga offerings, heavily inspired by Thai Yoga Massage which is referred to as Assisted Yoga, and shiatsu. My Bodywork is a tender practice of complete yielding to one’s physical presence. Think of a private yoga class, but it is myself as the practitioner who is moving your body, helping create space by moving any stagnant energy. Just when you thought yoga couldn't get any better, this bodywork modality is such a sweet compliment to the pursuit of presence.

Mantra, Sanskrit, deities and mythology are embedded deep within the yoga philosophy and Kirtan is where all these are linked together. The vibration and frequency of sound through Hermann the harmonium, collective voice and other band members who are present allow for further connection to the divine. To give yourself permission to get lost within the sound you find new parts of the self that lie dormant within.

If you have any questions on my offerings please hesitate to reach out, I look forward to connecting with you in the near future.
